Sneak Peek

19 Aug

There’s something about openings, about doors and windows that really get to me. They are gateways in, gateways out. They are the means where you enter, where you exit.

You go to a new place, and the first thing you see is the door. Then, next, you’ll probably see the windows. Sometimes, it may be the other way around, but seriously, who cares which you see first? All that matters is, you know you see them, but you don’t really.

If the door’s open, you walk straight in. If it’s not, you knock, you open, and then you walk straight in. No hassle, no anything. It’s a door, you walk right through it.

If the window’s open, you look out. If it’s not, you unlatch it, you open, and then you look out. No trouble, no anything. It’s a window, you look right through it.

Take a minute. Or a second. Or however long it takes you to take a sneak peek. Hide behind the door, peek through the crack. What do you see? Open the window halfway. Keep it open only at arm’s length. What do you feel?

It’s a door. Or a window. It’s a means to go in. Or get out.

It’s also a hole in the wall. A means for you to get past an obstacle. It’s how you get from one side to another.

It’s an opening. Or a pathway. Whichever way you look at it. It gets you from here to there.

Penang is full of doors and windows. Some are open, some are closed. Some welcoming, some not so. It’s what you make of it, what you see and what you don’t see.

I saw so many things in Penang. I found out a great deal about myself. And the city. It’s an awesome place. This is a sneak peek. =)

Openings and closings, comings and goings. Great metaphor for the choices and the paths we have in life. :)

It sort of is, isn’t it? We get spoilt for choice sometimes, over whether or not we go in or out, open or close those paths and roads that we travel. =)
